Happy Strawberry Craft

Happy Strawberry Craft

The Happy Strawberry craft is a bright and cheerful summer project for kids. The strawberry’s body is made from a three-dimensional heart shape, while its arms and legs are created from accordion-folded paper strips.

Materials

  • Red and green paper
  • Black marker or felt-tip pen
  • Pencil
  • Googly eyes (or paper eyes)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Happy Strawberry Craft – Step by Step

First, draw the outlines of all the craft pieces.

Fold a sheet of red paper in half and draw half of a heart along the fold. Also draw one long strip on the red paper.

Next, draw the strawberry leaves, stem, and a small circle on the green paper.

Leave enough space to make extra pieces, as you’ll need several copies of some shapes.

If you’re making the eyes from paper, draw two circles on a sheet of white paper. Cut them out later and add the pupils with a black marker.

Cut out all the pieces. You should have four green circles and four red strips.

Take the heart and draw small, slightly oval black dots all over it to make the strawberry seeds. Don’t add too many—just enough to give it a natural look.

Make a small cut in the center of the heart, between the two top curves. The cut should be short—less than one quarter of the heart’s height.

Overlap the cut edges and glue them together. This will turn the flat heart into a rounded, three-dimensional strawberry.

Now make the arms and legs by folding each red strip into an accordion.

Glue a green circle to each end of the folded strips to create the strawberry’s hands and feet.

Attach the arms and legs to the strawberry. You can let them hang straight down or angle them outward for a more playful pose.

Finally, glue on the green leafy top and the eyes. Draw a big smiling mouth to give your strawberry a happy expression.

Your colorful Happy Strawberry craft is now complete! It’s a perfect project for summer, when strawberries are in season, but it’s just as fun to make at any time of the year.
