Rocking Fly Agaric Mushroom Craft

This rocking fly agaric mushroom craft really rocks from side to side, making it a fun toy as well as a creative project. The bright green grass and vibrant red mushroom caps create an eye-catching contrast.

Materials

  • Green cardstock for the craft base;
  • Two shades of green paper for the grass;
  • Red paper for the mushroom caps;
  • White cardstock or paper for the mushroom stems;
  • White paper for the spots on the caps;
  • Scissors;
  • Glue.

Rocking Fly Agaric Mushroom Craft – Step by Step

First, gather all the materials you’ll need.

  • Cut a large circle from the green cardstock. This will become the rocking base that supports the entire craft.
  • Cut two clumps of grass from green paper. Use two different shades of green to make the finished craft more interesting. In our example, one is a warm green and the other matches the color of the base.
  • Cut two mushroom stems from white cardstock or paper. Cardstock is the better choice because it is sturdier and won’t bend easily, but regular paper works as well.
  • Cut two mushroom caps from the red paper. Feel free to experiment with their shape—they can be tall and pointed, wide and rounded, or have playful curved edges.
  • Cut small white spots from the white paper to decorate the caps. They don’t have to be perfect circles. Oval or irregular shapes look just as good. The number is up to you—we used six, but you can make more if you’d like.

Next, fold the cardstock circle in half. This creates a sturdy base that can stand upright and rock gently from side to side.

Now glue the mushroom stems onto the folded semicircle.

Leave a little space between them so the red caps won’t touch once they’re attached.

Next, glue the mushroom caps onto the stems. You can place them at different heights so that one mushroom is taller than the other.

Then decorate the caps with the white spots. This simple detail instantly makes the mushrooms recognizable as fly agarics.

After that, glue the grass to the front of the base. Position it so it slightly covers the lower part of the stems without hiding the mushroom caps.

If you’d like, add a few extra decorations such as leaves or flowers. This step is completely optional.

Finally, stand the craft upright. The folded base keeps it balanced, allowing it to rock gently without tipping over.
