You will need:

  • Colored paper for the base (green in our example);
  • Colored paper for decorating (red in our example);
  • A marker for drawing patterns (black in our example);
  • Scissors;
  • Glue.

How to Make Paper Flip-Flops Step by Step

First, decide what design you want for your paper flip-flops. In our example, they have a watermelon theme, but you can choose any design you like. The flip-flops can be yellow and red, purple and blue, green and orange, or any other color combination.

Once you have chosen your design, prepare the colored paper you need. For our craft, we are using green and red paper. You will also need a marker for adding patterns — we are using a black one.

Next, cut out all the pieces for the craft.

  • From the green paper, cut out two flip-flop bases in the shape shown in the photo. From the same paper, cut four strips slightly longer than the bases. These will form the upper parts of the flip-flops.
  • From the red paper, cut out two pieces in the same shape as the bases, but slightly smaller. These will be used to decorate the inside of the flip-flops.

Glue the red pieces onto the green bases. You will now have red centers with green borders, making them look like slices of watermelon.

Next, draw a simple pattern on the flip-flops. For our watermelon design, draw small black seeds scattered across the red watermelon flesh.

Now attach the upper parts of the flip-flops. Glue the ends of the paper strips to the bases, leaving the middle of each strip raised to create a three-dimensional shape.

The strips should cross in the center to form an “X.” You can experiment with their placement by gluing them closer together or farther apart.
