A fun craft that you can make for Valentine’s Day. This heart tree craft for kids is quick and easy to make, and the tree looks three-dimensional thanks to its raised trunk.
Materials:
- Brown, green, red, pink, and white paper for the details;
- Colored cardstock or paper for the background;
- Brown and black markers;
- Scissors;
- Glue.
How to Make a Heart Tree Craft for Kids Step by Step
First, cut out the pieces for the craft.
- Cut a rectangle from brown paper. This will be the tree trunk.
- Cut leaves from green paper.
- Cut hearts from red and pink paper.
- Cut two circles from white paper. These will be the eyes, which will make the tree look even funnier.
At this stage, also prepare the background sheet. Blue or yellow cardstock works especially well. You can use paper instead of cardstock, and it will work just as well.
Next, fold the narrow edges of the rectangular trunk. Try to make the folds about the same size.
Then make the tree’s face. Glue the eyes onto the trunk and draw a smile just below them. Draw pupils inside the eyes and add small highlights to them to make the character look more lively!
Place the face in the center of the rectangle so that it looks straight and doesn’t end up shifted to the right or left later.

Next, glue the trunk to the background sheet. Apply glue to the folded edges you made earlier. The closer the folded edges are glued to each other, the narrower the trunk will be.
Now draw branches on the tree using a brown marker. Draw most of the branches at the top, but place two of them on the sides of the trunk so that the tree has arms.
Next, glue the hearts onto the branches, using both red and pink ones. Instead of placing them straight, glue them at a slight angle. This will make the craft look more interesting and natural. Glue two hearts onto the tree’s arms.
Then glue the leaves onto the branches. They can overlap the hearts, peek out from underneath them, or not touch them at all. At this step, don’t forget about the arms either!
The heart tree craft is ready! It turned out cute, cheerful, and full of personality. You can give it as a gift to someone special, such as your mom, favorite teacher, friend, or best friend.
You can also change the color of the hearts. For example, you can make them all red or use a combination of pink and white. It’s completely up to you!
