3D Chicken Paper Craft

3D Chicken Paper Craft

This cute 3D chicken paper craft is made from simple paper shapes: a trapezoid, a rectangle, and strips of paper. The little bird turns out bright and adorable, and your child is sure to love it!

For this craft, you will need:

  • Yellow, orange, and white paper for the chicken;
  • Colored cardstock or paper for the background;
  • A black marker;
  • Scissors;
  • Glue.

3D Chicken Paper Craft Step by Step

First, prepare the paper pieces for the craft. It won’t take much time.

  • From yellow paper, cut out a trapezoid, a rectangle, and six long, thin strips. The first piece will be the body, the second will be the head, and the strips will become the wing feathers.
  • From orange paper, cut out the chicken’s crest and beak. The beak is not a triangle but a diamond shape, which we will fold in half later.
  • From white paper, cut out two circles. These will be the bird’s eyes.

If you like, you can use a different, brighter shade of yellow for the wings. This is optional and won’t make much difference to the final result.

Next, fold down the short sides of the trapezoid and rectangle. We will use these folded sections to attach the pieces to the background.

Then trim the trapezoid. Folding the bottom edge of the shape created some unattractive corners, so trim them off.

Next, glue the chicken’s body (the trapezoid) and head (the rectangle) to the background. Apply glue to the folded sections we made in the previous step.

Now move on to the feather strips. Glue the ends of each strip together to make paper loops.

Then attach the loops to the craft. They should be glued to the background underneath the body, rather than directly onto the body itself. This will create beautiful, fluffy wings.

Next, glue on the remaining details: the beak, crest, and eyes.

Fold the beak, which is a diamond shape, in half and apply glue to only one side. This will allow it to open and close. Draw pupils on the eyes. Glue the crest to the background underneath the head rather than directly onto the top of the head.

Also draw the chicken’s legs. A black marker works perfectly for this.

We’re finished: the 3D chicken paper craft is ready! The bird turned out funny, cute, fluffy, and a little chubby.

You can change some of the craft’s details. For example, the chicken can be white or brown. Instead of cutting the eyes out of paper, you can simply draw them on the bird’s head.
