Detailed instruction with photos, a simple paper boat for kids and not only.
It was in my childhood when I learned to make this origami boat. Early in spring when runlets appeared, we mercilessly tore off sheets from notebooks to make paper boats and compete in speed or covered distance. I can make it any time even with my eyes closed. Up to now, when I have to wait for something and if I have a rectangular piece of paper in my hands, it immediately turns into a boat, in my or surrounding kids’ joy. I hope I have convinced you of importance of making an origami boat? 🙂 Then, let’s get down to work.
How to Make a Paper Boat?
Prepare a rectangular piece of paper. You can choose absolutely any size.
Fold it in half.
The next step is optional; it is used to determine the middle only. But you can include this one as well at the initial stage. Fold the paper once again, for example, from the right to the left.
Unfold the paper, fold the right and the left corners downwards, leveling the sides along the middle fold.
There will be double paper in the bottom part; take the upper layer, direct it upwards as well, making a fold along the bottom side of the corners.
Do the same with the bottom part of the paper on the inner side.
There is redundant paper on the sides, fold the corners from one side towards the middle.
From the other side.
Slightly unfold the sides at the bottom part of the resulting triangle.
Carefully connect the right and the left corners.
Again, you will get two pieces of folded paper at the bottom, fold one side upwards.
Then, fold the second side, joining the bottom corner with the upper one.
Again, we have a triangle. Repeat the same actions with it as with the previous one. Slightly unfold its leaves at the bottom part.
Unfold it wider and connect the opposite corners.
You will get two triangles formed on each side. Pull them sidewise.
Extend it to the full, using fingers to smooth and fold the side edges at the same time. That’s it, the origami boat is complete. Despite the fact that the description is long, the boat can be made within seconds. The main thing is to have a little practice and remember the sequence of actions.
The flag is made of a toothpick and a rectangular glued piece of paper with cuts on one side.
