I wanted to make this amusing pig pink but since the symbol of the coming year is the yellow ground pig, I decided to choose yellow construction paper. For a change, why not making a yellow pig – indeed, all the pigs on the site are pink.
A pig craft of paper stripes has little difference from other characters made of thin stripes of construction paper; the key point is a corresponding appearance with a snout and distinctive ears.
For a pig craft you will need
- Yellow double-faced construction paper;
- Orange paper or construction paper;
- Red and black felt pens, scissors, a ruler, a glue stick, a writing pencil.
Pig Craft of Paper Stripes Step-by-Step
Cut 4 thin stripes out of the construction paper. The size can be different depending on the character size you need. Here, we have a small pig – the stripe is 1 cm wide and as long as the narrow side of the construction paper sheet.
Fold each of the stripes in half to know exactly where the middle is.
Use a glue stick to glue together the first two stripes in the place of the fold.
Glue the rest of the stripes crosswise.
Now, you should make a ball out of the snowflake you have got. Glue together the opposite ends of one of the stripes.
Glue the rest as well. Try not to overpull the stripes in order not to get a broken ball. You shouldn’t make them too sagging either – everything should be even.
The ball of stripes is ready – it will become the pig’s body. Now, only the minor details are left.
Finishing Details for the Paper Pig
Draw and cut out a head – a common circle with ears. Cut out a circle for a snout nose separately. Cut a tail and legs out of the construction paper as well. And optionally – a scarf.
Glue all the details to the paper ball. Don’t forget to draw eyes, a smile, and nostrils on the snout, and twist the tail with a pencil. That’s it, the symbol of 2019 is ready. Such a pig made of paper stripes may become a perfect souvenir, a decoration, or a Christmas ball.
