Mouse of Paper Strips

Mouse of Paper Strips

Despite the fact that there are already plenty of mice on the site, we offer you another simple craft – a mouse made of paper strips.

This amusing and easy voluminous craft will enlarge the already substantial collection of paper strips crafts.

Materials used:

  • Grey cardboard;
  • Red and blue colored paper or cardboard, if you need a winter version of the mouse;
  • A writing pencil, scissors, a ruler, a glue stick, a black felt pen.

Mouse of Paper Strips Step by Step

Making the Body

To make the mouse’s voluminous body, you will need 4 thin strips of not too thick cardboard. The strips should be from 1 to 1.5 cm wide, depending on the character size you need. For the craft, we used strips as long as the narrow side of A4cardboard and 1 cm wide.

Fold the strips in half to find their middle.

Stick two strips crosswise, connecting them in the center in the folds area.

Follow with the rest strips. You will get a voluminous paper ball, which at the same time makes up the mouse’s body.

Head and Other Parts

Draw or print the template of a rather large head of the mouse; it can be almost half of the body size. Cut it and a tail out of grey cardboard. Also, you will need a small red circle for a nose and a round cardboard stand that will make the mouse of paper strips more stable on the surface. If you plan to hang the craft, you can omit cutting the grey circle.

These details are quite enough to make an ordinary mouse, but for the New Year’s version, you can also cut a paper semicircle for a party hat and a thin strip for a scarf.

Twist the semicircle to make a cone, fold the strip in half so that the tips can’t meet.

Stick a nose onto the head, draw eyes and a smile. Then, glue the head and the tail to the voluminous body, attach the body stand and the mouse of paper strips is ready.

When creating a winter-Christmas mouse, start with sticking a party hat atop of it; then, glue a scarf at the side and only after that attach the head onto the scarf and the tail at the back.

By the way, the mouse is suitable for any celebration, when wearing only a party hat of various colors.
