You can make not only funny characters but also a useful thing from the toilet paper roll. The toilet paper roll pencil holder in the form of the caterpillar is an excellent option. You may put in it the pencils, markers, pens, crayons, everything that is often in different, sometimes unexpected places. In addition, in such a bright and cheerful way, the caterpillar pencil holder will decorate the child’s room.
For the crafts you will need:
- 6 toilet paper rolls;
- Some colored cardboard;
- Color paper of 6 different shades;
- The conventional scissors and wavy blade;
- The graphite pencil, ruler, glue stick and PVA; Upon request, yellow gouache and tassel.
I cut out the cardboard base for the roll with scissors with a wavy blade, I just had a chance to use them. But, if you do not have such scissors, you can simply draw a wavy line and cut it with ordinary scissors.
The yellow gouache is needed to make the inside of the roll bright. But I missed this stage, anyway, and it is fine.
How to make the toilet paper roll pencil holder?
Wrap one roll in colored paper, measure the dimensions and cut 6 rectangles to glue over the rolls. Place the rolls in the correct order on a piece of cardboard and circle them with a wave-shaped pencil. Cut out the stand.
Glue the different colors of paper around the rolls. It is more convenient to use glue stick here, since the paper does not get wet from it and is faster glued.
Begin to glue the roll to the stand. To do this, apply a thin line of PVA glue on the edge of the roll and press it against the cardboard. On the next roll, also apply PVA on the bottom of the toilet paper roll, and then glue the line on the side, from top to bottom. Glue it to the first roll.
Glue all the rolls in such a way. Notice that the caterpillar is not completely straight. Glue one toilet paper roll a little bit to the front, and the next one is slightly backward. The design turned out to be quite durable; everything is fine on PVA. But if you for some reason have doubts about its stability, use a glue-moment or glue gun.
Make a caterpillar face. Cut a circle, draw or make the paper eyes, mouth and two antennae. The tips of the antennae should be rolled up.
Glue the face of the caterpillar on the first toilet paper roll. In general, the toilet paper roll pencil holder in the form of a caterpillar is ready, but you can show your imagination and add crafts with flowers, patterns, and peas.
I cut out many small flowers from colored paper. Then I cut the multi-colored middles for them.
I pasted caterpillar pencil holder and stand-glade with the flowers. It turned out very bright and cheerful.
