Paper Ring Snake Craft Step by Step
First, decide what color your snake will be.
A two-color snake looks especially bright and eye-catching, but using just one color works well too. You can choose any colors you like. In our example, the snake is blue and orange.
Once you’ve chosen the colors, prepare all the craft pieces. Start by cutting paper strips of the same length and width.
We cut out 6 orange strips and 5 blue strips. If you’d like to make a longer snake, simply cut more strips. There should always be one more orange strip than blue strips.
Besides the strips, cut out the snake’s head and tail. Each of these should consist of two matching mirror-image pieces. To make them, fold the paper in half and carefully cut out the shape. Try not to leave fold marks on the head or tail, as they aren’t needed.
Don’t forget the eyes and tongue. Like any proper snake, the tongue should be forked. Cut it from red or pink paper. You can either make the eyes from paper or use ready-made googly eyes.

Once all the pieces are ready, take an orange strip and form it into a ring. Apply glue to one end and attach it to the other end.

Next, thread a blue strip through the orange ring.

Now glue the blue strip into a ring as well. You should now have a short chain made of two paper rings.

Continue building the chain by alternating orange and blue paper strips.

When the chain is complete, turn it over so the blue rings face upward. Blue is the main color of our snake.

Next, attach the snake’s head. Thread the head piece through the last orange ring and glue the two matching halves together.

Attach the tail in exactly the same way.

Finally, add the eyes and the forked tongue. These little details will make your snake look fun and full of personality!

Thanks to its chain-like construction, this paper ring snake craft isn’t stiff—it moves! The snake can bend in different directions and can even curl itself into a circle. This playful feature is sure to delight children.
