Colored Paper Snail Craft

Colored Paper Snail Craft

A bright and cheerful colored paper snail craft. A simple step-by-step craft for children.

You will need:

  • Colored paper;
  • Colored markers (1–3 colors);
  • Scissors;
  • Glue;
  • Googly eyes (store-bought or cut from paper).

Step-by-Step Colored Paper Snail Craft

For this craft, you will only need paper in one color (or two colors if you decide to make the eyes yourself instead of using store-bought ones). The snail can be pink, blue, orange, red, or any other color you like. In our example, it is yellow.

Draw a long strip on the colored paper (this will be the snail’s body), a circle (for the snail’s head), and a small strip for the antennae. If you are making the eyes from paper, draw a small circle on a sheet of white paper.

Carefully cut out all the pieces. You will need two eyes and two antennae.

Take the long paper strip. Fill about three-quarters of it with lines drawn using colored markers. This will become the snail’s shell. In our example, we alternate between two colors, but you can use one, two, or three colors—it’s up to you.

Wrap the decorated part of the strip around a pen, pencil, or marker. This will form the spiral shell of the snail.

Bend the free end of the strip upward.

Make the snail’s head. Curl the ends of the antennae the same way you curled the shell, then glue the antennae to the head. Add the eyes and draw a smile.

This is where you can get creative! Consider the color of your snail. If it is red, it could look angry with frowning eyes and a grumpy smile. If it is blue, it might appear sad. A pink snail could have a dreamy, loving expression. A green snail may look calm and peaceful, while an orange one can seem cheerful and energetic.

Glue the head to the bent end of the strip. If the pieces do not line up perfectly (for example, if the head circle is smaller than the width of the body strip), carefully trim any protruding edges so the snail looks smooth and neat.

Colored Paper Snail Craft

This colored paper snail craft is quick and easy to make, yet it turns out bright, charming, and full of personality! Any young crafter can create a whole collection of these adorable snails.

You can place the finished snail on a sheet of green paper to create a grassy meadow filled with tasty grass for it to enjoy.
